- Each grant application must include one or more undergraduate students and one or more faculty mentors.

- Student applicants must be undergraduates enrolled in 2- or 4-year colleges or universities in Virginia. Student applicants do not need to be members of the Virginia Academy of Science.
- Faculty mentors must be faculty members affiliated with 2- or 4-year colleges or universities in Virginia.
- Faculty mentors must be members in good standing with dues paid for the current year of the Virginia Academy of Science by the October 1 grant application submission deadline. Current VAS membership status can be confirmed by contacting the Executive Officer at psheridan@vacadsci.org. If needed, the VAS Individual Membership Form is available at the link below.

2. The Undergraduate Research Grant Application (an online form available via the VAS website) must be completed by the student applicants in consultation with their faculty mentors(s) and submitted by the October
1 deadline (by midnight).
3. If there are questions about this year’s Fall Undergraduate Research Meeting and/or the online grant application please contact the Executive Officer Phil Sheridan at psheridan@vacadsci.org. Student applicants must attend the Fall Undergraduate Research Meeting and present their posters outlining their proposed research projects (following the criteria of the Fall Meeting Poster Guidelines).
4. Faculty mentors are strongly encouraged to support their students by also attending the Fall Undergraduate Research Meeting.
6. ALL Fall Undergraduate Research Meeting attendees (e.g., student applicants, faculty mentors, judges, guests) must register for the meeting ($15 registration fee), although the registration fee is waived for faculty serving as judges or career panelists. All donations are used for to fund grants or expenses directly associated with the Fall Undergraduate Meeting. The link to registration for the Fall meeting is at the bottom of this page.
