Junior Academy of Science Committee

The Junior Academy of Science Committee of the Virginia Academy of Science shall:

1. Assist the Executive Committee in selecting a Director and an Associate Director for The Virginia Junior Academy of Science.
2. Coordinate with the Director activities of The Virginia Junior Academy of Science including development, expansion, and the annual meetings.
3. Review funding proposals for the Virginia Junior Academy of Science and submit appropriate recommendations to the Executive Committee or other designated committees in a timely manner.
4. Publish and distribute Proceedings of Virginia Junior Academy of Science.
5. Select student representatives and alternates to attend The American Junior Academy of Science.
6. Solicit membership and participation in Virginia Junior Academy of Science programs and projects.
7. Support and participate in all other programs and activities related to the work of Virginia Junior Academy of Science.
8. Set up procedures for selecting the top students and declare and announce them to be State Winners in the Virginia Science Talent Search, and all other contestants as runners-up.
9. Carry out other duties that support the development of science in education as approved by Council.
